Non-boring DIY Bookmarks
Something a bit more than just a rectangular piece of pretty paper.
Ribbon Bookmarks
Just a long piece of ribbon, slightly longer than the height (or twice the height) of the book. To the ends: knot, sew a seam, attach a crimp, or sear to prevent fraying. And that's it. Charms, or even an elastic band (to use as an elastic enclosure) can be added to the ends if desired.
Hell, even a flat enough shoelace would work for this.
Corner Bookmarks
Any fold that creates a 90-degree triangular pocket works. These make extremely basic corner pockets, but can also be the base of more elaborate folds and designs. They also double as corner protection for book covers.
- Helmet Base: Unfold the corners, then fold down the point of the upper layer to the base. Fold back up the corners and tuck them inside the pocket.
- Square Base
- Waterbomb Base
Woven Bookmarks
Easier to make with paper strips. Woven yarn or braided cords also work, but I personally dislike using bookmarks with too much bulk.
Flap Bookmarks
Cut open or glue on a flap in the middle and insert the page in between the two flaps.
Bookmarks with Origami on One End
Rectangular bookmarks with one end folded into a design.
