Today's aside: realizing that there's a concerningly high number of people who don't understand the difference between "explaining a thing" and "throwing out technical terms to flex your own knowledge but ultimately teaching nothing to the audience".

Aside for the aside: it's likely just a flaw in an education curriculum and people just don't realize that explaining to teach and explaining to get A Good Grade in Essay are Different Things. And sometimes people just do overestimate their audience base line. It's obvious when the latter happens and easy to accept it wasn't malicious. It's also easy to spot when the jargon's just there to flex.
