Separating art from its artist...
"Separating art from its artist" flattens the art, I think. Experiencing the art with its context - which includes the artist - makes for a richer interaction.
Interacting with "morally bad" art or art made by "morally bad" artists won't contaminate you and turn you bad. But you do have to consider the entire context to see how that piece of art interacts with the rest of the world. And from there you can judge what kind of consequences the interaction has, if you're willing to let those happen, and what all of that says about you.
