Things I Want in a Social Media Site
- Posts in reverse chronological order by default.
- Functional search feature that can be used to find a user, or a specific post given keywords, original poster, and date range.
- Albums/post collections. Some feature to easily group things.
- Multiple feeds. Mostly so I can just separate friends’ posts from memes, interests, and local events.
- Profile customization - a bit more than just name, icon, and header.
- Private vss public post types. Some way to signal that something is just rambling, or directed at close friends vs. a statement I’m willing to share to the public. Might be best to use different platforms for such, though.
- Block feature that prevents me from interacting with them, and them from interacting with me.
- Keyword filters and blacklists.
